Words by anonymous (Sumerian inscription) and music by Ingrid Heyn

A song cycle in three movements, two in which the soprano voice is used instrumentally in vocalise fashion, and the third in which an almost terrifying ancient Sumerian text calls out for protection. With moments of great beauty forming lakes of sound between peaks of extraordinary vocal and dramatic challenge, and with a piano part of great technical requirements, this is a difficult but powerful work.
